9th Jan. 2012: These new Withdrawal Practice Guidelines, authored by Dr Enrico Cementon (SUMITT component of the Victorian Dual Diagnosis Initiative) are designed to provide a comprehensive management approach to working with consumers withdrawing from alcohol and/or substance use within North Western Mental Health acute inpatient and/or residential services.

Note that these Guidelines:
• are specifically drafted around the particular needs of people experiencing withdrawal in mental health settings
• are written with the  view that the ‘management of acute drug withdrawal is a core competency of all psychiatrists’ and are a resource for psychiatrists, psychiatry trainees and other clinical staff who are endeavouring to achieve this competency
• have been published with a creative commons  copyright attribution – that is you are free to share and adapt the content as per the creative commons license (note specific conditions on p2 of the Guidelines)
